A Dinorawr Welcome

I have a new grand-nephew!  Wow, that makes me sound really old!  My niece recently gave birth to her son, and I commemorated the occasion with this (and a gift 😄):

My grandson is a total dinosaur freak, so I thought I may as well start my new nephew off on the right foot.

This card didn't come out ANYTHING like I had planned, but I was really happy with the results.  What started with the panel with the name cut-out blossomed into a 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" card!  Does that ever happen to you?

So this is where it all started.  Then I needed to build around his name.  I absolutely adore the Hand Lettered Prose alphabet dies!  They are so easy to create ANY word with!

My Balmy Blue panel was cut with the letters, embossed with the Subtle embossing folder, and mounted with Dimensionals over a piece of Night of Navy.

Then came the dinosaurs--each stamped with a different blue (Night of Navy, Pool Party and Seaside Spray) and cut with the coordinating Dino dies.  So cute!

My card "grew" when I realized I couldn't fit everything on a standard card base.  So I just added some Granny Apple Green (embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder) and more Night of Navy, which then gave me room for the palm tree (also part of the Dino Days suite).  I just had to add some grass (Lakeside dies) to finish off the card.

I'm sure little Max will be a Dino lover before long...

Check out Hand Lettered Prose - being able to create any word you want makes this SUCH a versatile set of dies!  I know you'll love them as much as I do!

Leftover Letters?

So what do you do with the leftover letters you cut out?  I made this anniversary card for my sister,

and since I used the negative space (after cutting out the letters) I had leftovers.  So what did I do?
I made another card:

This is for my granddaughter's birthday.  She's turning 17, so I thought a little tropical card would be lovely.

The card base is Basic Black.  I took a piece of Pool Party cardstock and cut out the silhouette of the palm trees using the new Friendly Silhouettes dies.  LOVE!

Next I swiped my Whisper White craft ink pad across the Pool Party (can you see the faint lines?) to make it look like a tropical sky.  Then I adhered the Pool Party piece to my Basic Black, creating the silhouetted palm trees.

The letters were added with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and I cut a few clouds  with retired Umbrella Weather dies.

Finally I heat embossed "birthday" (from Beautiful You) with some old Pool Party Embossing Powder.

I think Izzie is going to love this card!  Don't you?

What a Bright Anniversary!

Last week I shared some cards on which I used the new Pigment Sprinkles from Stampin' UP! You can see them here. I couldn't stop playing with the sprinkles, so today I'm going to share another card, this time for my sister's anniversary:

These colors are SO vibrant and gorgeous!

I started with some Watercolor paper, spritzing it thoroughly with water.  Then I just dropped a few crystals (Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Mango Mandarin) on the page and watched them explode into glorious color!

The Hand-Lettered Prose dies helped me spell "happy"; layering my colored sheet over black made them pop!

I heat embossed the "anniversary" (from Well Said) using black embossing powder on Melon Mambo cardstock, cut out with the Stitched Rectangle dies.  And the little black hearts were cut with the Stitched Labels dies.

I just finished with a little bling!

Come back tomorrow, when I show you another card I made with the leftover letters.  I couldn't throw them away when they were so beautiful!
