A Delicata Reindeer

I can't say I cried when I heard that the Delicata inks are no longer available, but I can say I was very disappointed.  I had only just started to enjoy using them, when - WHAM - gone!  ðŸ˜’

However, I still have them, and had planned a card for my last Card Club, and so I'm going to show it to you today.  (I am running about 10 days behind schedule due to a wonderful weekend of stamping when many of my team members gathered for OnStage in Portland.  My prep work was nearly overwhelming, but that's another story!)

Take a look:

So many beautiful products on this card!  I'll start with the reindeer.  It's from Dashing Deer, and was stamped in Copper Delicata Ink:

Can you see the shine?  So pretty!

The reindeer was cut with the Detailed Deer dies.

This card came about because I love the copper effects of the Brightly Gleaming Designer Series Paper.  The sheet I selected is covered in copper holly and leaves.  So I mounted my deer on top of an Heirloom Frame for the focal image over the beautiful DSP.

And check out that greeting:

I'm still loving the Ornate Frames (being carried over in the next Mini Catalog, happily!); the greeting from Itty Bitty Christmas was stamped in Mossy Meadow ink and cut with the dies.  Just a few Holiday Rhinestones finishes it off.

Dashing Deer and Brightly Gleaming - what a stunning combo!

Deer in the Yard, and Deer on a Card

We've been having some regular visitors to our yard at our new home, and I'm loving it!

Sometimes he brings his mama:

But now that we've started our landscaping (and have a new fence) their visits are a little less frequent.  I hope they'll continue to visit once the landscaping is done.

Our little friends have inspired this card:

Sigh...LOVE!

I reached back to an older stamp set (but still in the current annual catalog) - Dashing Deer.  I was working with the gorgeous new designer series paper, Brightly Gleaming, and inspiration struck.

Yes, I know there is no such thing as a copper deer, but I love the Delicata Celestial Copper ink on Night of Navy cardstock...so beautiful!

Baby deer is also stamped in Celestial Copper, and both creatures were cut out with the Detailed Deer dies.  And see that sentiment?  Stamped on Vellum with Night of Navy ink and heat embossed with Clear emboss powder to give a nice shine.

Although it only looks like a few white patches on these trees, they actually are covered in Shimmery Crystal Effects with some Ice Stampin' Glitter and are very glittery.  They are from the Rooted in Nature set and cut with the Nature's Roots dies.

A Whisper White layer was layered with two pieces of Vellum, torn to look like snow drifts.  There's a thin line of Wink of Stella across the tops of each piece, which when held in the light looks like sparkling snow.

I do hope we continue to enjoy visits from these lovely animals.  And in the meantime, I'll enjoy playing with these stamps!

Dashing Deer

One of the prettiest new stamp sets in the Holiday catalog is Dashing Deer.  When I attended a demo get-together a few weeks ago, one of the cards we made used this beautiful set, along with Shimmer Paint. Wowza!  What a combo:

Stamping with Blueberry Bushel, and embossing on the Galvanized Metallic Paper makes a beautiful card!

Add a little Shimmer Paint:

Oh. Em. Gee!  So gorgeous!

To get this effect, we mixed a few drops of Blueberry Bushel reinker with the Frost White Shimmer Paint.  Then we sponged it directly on our stamp, and stamped on Whisper White cardstock.  You must work fairly quickly, and be sure to wash your stamp well when done (and then clean/recondition it with Stampin' Mist), but it leaves a shimmery image in the color of your reinker.

The card base is Blueberry Bushel; the Galvanized Metallic Sheet was embossed with the Swirls & Curls embossing folder.  I cut my deer with the coordinating Detailed Deer Thinlits dies and popped it up on an oval cut with the Layering Ovals.

And inside:

This got a little royal treatment with some stamping on the Galvanized sheet and the addition of some rhinestones.

Simply gorgeous!
