A Phone-y Card

It's my brother-in-law's birthday and I'm always looking for something funny to send.  This year Lorri Heiling to the rescue!  Her iPhone card was just what I was looking for:

This was the perfect backdrop for the new Conversation Bubbles stamps!  And it was so easy!

I trimmed down the standard-sized card to 3-7/8" x 5-1/2", rounding the corners.  A layer of Basic White gave the shape to the phone, and then I added a Basic Black "screen".  And then the fun began.

I stamped the Conversation Bubbles in Tuxedo Black on Basic White, except for the "responses" (you know how your replies are in blue if you are using Messaging on an iPhone?), the first of which I stamped in Versamark on Pacific Point cardstock and heat-embossed with white.  The second response was stamped with Pacific Point ink on white.  And all the bubbles were cut with the coordinating Conversation Bubbles dies.

The "65!" was cut using the now-retired Playful Alphabet dies and added to a blank word bubble.

And inside - an easy finish with Biggest Wish making a statement!

Happy Birthday, Rich!  I think you'll have some fun with this card!  I know I did!

Conversation Bubbles and the coordinating dies are now available in the January - April 2023 Mini Catalog.  Get them before they're gone!  Shop here.

Celebration Sale-a-Bration with Dandy Designs

I'm showcasing projects made with Sale-a-Bration products all week long, and today is Day 2.  I have been playing with the Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper pack, which is a FREE offering with a $100 purchase.  It includes 48 sheets of 12" x 12" paper in several colors to mix and match all year long.

Have you heard of the Stack & Cut method of creating cards?  This is where you take 4 pieces of coordinating cardstock and cut them to 3-3/4" x 5".  Then stack them together (you'll cut all four pieces at the same time) and cut 1-1/4" off of one side.  Cut that strip into two pieces - one being 1-3/4 " and the other will be 3-1/4" long.

Now with the remaining 2-1/2" x 5" piece, cut it at 2-3/4", leaving you with a 2-1/4" x 2-1/2".

I've drawn this template on cardstock so you can see the size of each block.

Once you have all your pieces (you'll have 16 pieces altogether), you can start mixing and matching to make four cards.  Yes!  You get four cards out of this Stack & Cut method!  Choose four colors of coordinating cardstock and cut your card bases.  Then take four more pieces of a neutral layer (cut to 4" x 5-1/4") for your DSP pieces, and build your cards.

I used four patterns of the Dandy Designs paper in Fresh Freesia and Mango Melody, so I cut two card bases from each color.  I chose to use Basic White for my layer for each card.  Here they are:

I cut a circle with the Stylish Shapes dies, embossed it with the Brick embossing folder and added a greeting from Charming Sentiments.

This one uses a greeting from Framed Florets on Deckled Rectangles with Stampin' Blends-colored flowers.

This card uses the Conversation Bubbles stamps and dies for a fun thank you card.

And finally:

I decorated this one with the Sending Smiles stamps/dies and added a new Dragonfly Trinket:

These cards all use the same DSP, but with the different sizes of each piece, you can make all your cards look very different.

A quick and easy way to make 4 similar, but different cards.  Give it a try!

Sale-a-Bration is going on now; don't miss your opportunity to pick up some of the wonderful paper packs available only while supplies last!
