A Day for Cocktails

Ever have "one of those days"?  I think, especially over the past year, we've all experienced them.  Take today, for example:  my son and daughter-in-law both work.  They've been working mostly from home over the past year, taking turns when they needed to go into the office so that one of them could be home with the kids (ages 4 and 7 months) because daycare is closed.  Today, with their cleaning lady coming, my son brought the two kids to our home while his wife went into the office.  Now here's the tough part (and I give credit to ALL those parents in the same situation):  my son had a work call at 1:00, my grandson had his on-line pre-school class at 1:00 and the baby was crying.  Had they been at home, how in world would they have managed?  Watching my son juggle his call (mostly staying on "mute"), holding the baby and setting up Declan's school papers was nothing short of a miracle!  Of course my husband and I tried to jump in to help, but little Hannah wanted nothing but to be held by daddy, and trying to get Declan to pay attention to story time was like herding cats!  And you know what my son said as I commented on his unflappable demeanor? "It is what it is, and we just have to go with the flow"!  I have to hand it to all of you who are dealing with COVID restrictions, working, taking care of the kids and "going with the flow"!  My hat's off to you!

So here's a card that I thought would be fitting:

Yes, it was one of THOSE days!  And Nothing's Better Than seemed to be perfect!

I started with a piece of Basic White, placed it in the Stamparatus, and began stamping "Cocktails" using the "hinge" technique (moving the plate down the hinges to stamp in a straight line down the page), progressing colors from light to dark.  Then I moved the stamp for the second column, and repeated my stamping, working my way through the rainbow of yellows, pinks and reds.

I also cut one of the word dies using Magenta Madness mounted on Foam Sheets, for a popped up greeting.  The cocktail glass was stamped, colored with Blends and cut using the Love You More Than dies, and added to the Stitched Rectangle.

This card is going to my daughter - she has FOUR kids, and is dealing with full time work, on-line school and was feeling "blue" the other day...I can only imagine!

Sending hugs to all the parents and grandparents who are struggling right now...it's been a cocktail kind of year, huh?  Can't wait for the "Today is a VACCINE kind of day"!
