Stacked with Birthday Greetings

Time for a quick birthday card.  This is one you can put together with any pieces of designer series papers you have sitting around (and I KNOW you have designer series papers just sitting around--if you're like me, you hoard these, scraps and all, and suddenly feel like you're drowning in paper!)

This card uses a base of Whisper White Thick Cardstock.  The sentiment is from Watercolor Words and is stamped in Cucumber Crush.  This is mounted to a thin layer of Cucumber Crush cardstock and adhered to the card.

I used the 1-1/4" Circle Punch to punch out 4 circles from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack.  I mounted them to punched Whisper White circles to give them a little heft, then popped them up on Dimensionals.  I trimmed off the top and bottom circles.

And of course there's a matching envelope.  The Envelope Liners Framelits make it easy to place a matching liner inside your envelope (and you get to use a little more of your DSP--your hubby's gonna love you for it, as you slowly divest your craft room of extra papers!).

It's the Big 30!

30 years ago today I became a mom for the third (and last) time.  My beautiful son, Matt, was born at 2:08 in the afternoon.  He's been a joy (most of the time) and I'm very proud of the man he's become.

So today, I'm sharing with you his birthday card.  I struggled a bit to figure out what to make for him.  He's in the Air Force, and is pretty low key.  I wanted something to celebrate him, but nothing over the top.  So here is my card:

Not too over the top, is it?  <grin>

I started with a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock, and layered on a piece of Whisper White stamped with the wonderful background stamp, Writing Notes.  Then I began putting pieces of this and that together:

"Happy Birthday" was stamped (Watercolor Words) with Bermuda Bay ink, and layered on top of Crushed Curry cardstock.  Before adhering to the card, I cut three candles using the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack, and added flames using a retired punch.

The numbers were cut with the Little Numbers dies, and the stars were cut using the Stars Framelits in two sizes in Silver and Gold Glimmer Paper.   The gold one is popped up with a Dimensional.

Inside I added a little pocket for a little treat (cash!):

The sentiment is from B.Y.O.P. (Buy Your Own Present) and the pocket is cut from more Cherry on Top paper with only the small part of the Treat Bag Thinlits dies.

This gives me a little pocket for a little "present".

So happy birthday to my Matt!  Love you!

You're the Best!

With all the hoopla around the new Holiday Catalog, I took some time to create a few cards using products that are new to the Annual Catalog.  One of my favorite stamp sets this year is Watercolor Words.  The font is fun, the sayings are fresh and there are a few extra flowers, hearts and stars to take your creations to the next level.

This fun thank you card could easily go to a child who has just accomplished something wonderful; or not so wonderful - maybe they just did something that is hard for them.  Change out the little banner and you can use this card for anything.

I especially love the background stamp, Writing Notes.  I'll have a new video for you coming up with an easy way to get your background stamps (these extra large stamps) to stamp completely.

This card has a Blackberry Bliss base, with Writing Notes stamped on Very Vanilla with Delightful Dijon ink.  There's a strip of Bohemian Designer Series Paper, flagged at the bottom with the Banner Triple Punch.  I love that our DSP can help me choose my colors and everything goes together so well!

My sentiment is stamped in Bermuda Bay, mounted on a slightly larger piece of Delightful Dijon and adhered to the card front.  Three stars are punched from Gold Glimmer Paper.

There's a little strip of the Bohemian DSP, flagged on either end.  I actually took a long strip and cut it in thirds.  The flagged ends are adhered with SNAIL Adhesive, and the center is popped up on Dimensionals.  The "thanks" is from Another Thank You, and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss.

I'm actually going to be changing out the sentiment and sending this card to my grandson, who just started kindergarten.  He loves to receive mail, and I know he'll enjoy this card.
