Simply Zinnias for Cards-by-Mail

Each month I offer a class to my "far-away" customers.  These ladies used to attend my classes when I lived in California, and I hated to leave them.  So I offer a class where they get to make 4 cards; they use their own stamps, ink and adhesives, but I mail them card packs (cardstock, die cuts, embellishments, patterned paper and envelopes, and detailed instructions) and they create at home.

Here's one of the cards I offered in July:

Watching my beautiful zinnias in my back yard inspired me to create this fun-fold card.  The patterned papers are all from the Flowering Zinnias paper pack.  The card base is Blackberry Bliss.

The Simply Zinnia dies made this flower; I chose colors from the DSP - Blackberry Bliss, Highland Heather and Crushed Curry.

When the card is opened it looks like this:

This is a great and easy fun-fold that can be decorated in so many ways!

Did you make a Stampin' UP! purchase in July?  You should have received your Bonus Days coupons, one for every $50 ordered.

And now is the time to redeem those coupons.  Make any Stampin' UP! purchase in the month of August and use your coupons to discount your payment.  Each coupon is worth $5, so don't forget to use them!

Oops, I Did It Again!

Lately I've been finding scraps on my desk that I find new purposes for.  Take this card:

See that cute black frame?  That was actually a left-over piece after I cut Basic Black cardstock with the Perennial Postage dies (the largest one).  I had carefully centered it on my piece of cardstock, so it left this perfect little frame.

So when I needed a few thank you cards for customers it seemed like just the right accent for my card.

And those little flowers?  Die-cuts from the Simply Zinnia dies - coming to the OnLine Exclusives on March 4th!  These are the little "extra" dies that don't coordinate with the stamps in the Simply Zinnia set, but they are as cute as can be!

How did I make that background?

It's a piece of 3-7/8" x 5-1/4" Basic White cardstock.  First I stamped the greeting from Sweetly Scripted (another sneak peek of a stamp coming March 4th!), then I ran the cardstock through my Cut and Emboss machine with the Basics embossing folder.  BUT I stopped it after embossing about 2/3 of the sheet and backed it out, leaving the stamped area "un-embossed".  Doesn't the Black & White Gingham ribbon make the perfect compliment to this sweet card?

Two versions with the two types of flower blossoms included in the die set.  L.O.V.E.!

Watch for the beautiful Simply Zinnia suite of products (stamps, dies, embossing folder, DSP and sequins are all included), coming March 4th!

Simply Zinnia

Oh, how I love bright colors!

So when I caught a glimpse of the upcoming Simply Zinnia suite of products, I was hooked!  The first thing that caught my eye was the Designer Paper, Flowering Zinnias.  It's absolutely gorgeous if you love bright colors like I do.  Then I saw the embossing folder, the stamps and the dies.  And finally, the Adhesive-backed Shiny Sequins, in colors that coordinate with the DSP.  Be still my heart!

Take a look at my first play:

Look at that background paper!  Look at the die-cut flower!  And note the little sequins in Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Melon Mambo!

Then take a peek at the Basic Black card base.  This card, completely unplanned, started when I used the Perennial Postage dies on the black cardstock to cut a layer for another card.  But the die had been lined up perfectly to make a "frame".  So I used it!  I folded the cardstock into a card, and laid a piece of the Flowering Zinnias DSP under the opening in the card front.  Although it looks like the floral background piece is on top of the black, it's actually under it.  And when the card is opened, you see the back of the DSP on the inside.

I cut the flower using the coordinating dies with Berry Burst, Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  The leaves are Lemon Lime Twist. And I finished the front with a greeting from Softly Sophisticated on an Everyday Details die-cut label.

Simply Zinnia will be available on March 1st in the OnLine Exclusives.
