Foil for Merry Monday

Let's see a little shine for Merry Monday!  The special release Shining Christmas DSP is perfect for a holiday card!

I thought it would be fun to make a little fun fold today.  I lopped off 1-1/4" from the card front, then added a piece of the striped DSP.  Cherry Cobbler is layered on the inside, but before adhering, I attached a strip of Basic White, on which I added the beautiful frame from the Christmas Classics dies.

The pine boughs were stamped and cut with the dies, and adhered under the frame.  Then the greeting was stamped on the white label, which is a perfect fit for the frame.

I finished with Rhinestone Basic Jewels, colored with Cherry Cobbler Blends for a little bling.

And inside:

the card is finished with a holly branch and greeting.

Shining Christmas is currently available  through the Online Exclusives.  Grab it before it's gone!

Merry Monday in Neutrals

I recently challenged myself to create a holiday card in neutral tones.  And I found it to be quite easy and super effective!  Take a look:

Although I usually celebrate Christmas in reds and greens, and an occasional blue, I had never used browns before.  So when I was thinking about this challenge, I pulled out my Glorious Gingham DSP and settled on Pecan Pie.  And I'm so happy I did!

I also decided to use Christmas Classics stamps and dies.  The beautiful frame (with embellished edges) is stunning.  So I got to work.

I cut the frame in Pecan Pie.  Then I stamped the images from the stamp set using Pecan Pie for the corners and Mossy Meadow for the greeting.  But before adding the label to the frame I threw in a few Vellum sprigs, also cut with the dies.

But I knew I needed just a tad more color - Mossy Meadow to the rescue, with die cut holly leaves that tuck in behind the frame.

Then it was time to put it all together - I adhered the gingham DSP to a skinny layer of Basic White, and then ran a strip of the Burlap ribbon around the layer.  This was then added to the Pecan Pie card base.

Finally I popped the frame on top with Dimensionals, and finished off with some Brushed Metallic Dots.

I'm so happy I tried this!  It's a stunning card and I'll be proud to send this out during the holiday season, even if it isn't red and green!  ðŸ˜Š

Have you tried a neutral or non-traditional Christmas card?

I'll Have a Blue Christmas...

OK, who is singing along with me right now?  Any Elvis fans?

As I started making this card for Merry Monday, I had no intention of making a blue card.  But I WAS trying to find non-traditional colors in my DSP that I could use, and this piece, from Countryside Inn looked promising.  So blue it is:

I bought the Handcrafted Elements dies (a stand-alone set of interesting dies) and wanted to use this ornament.  When cut, the center is open and there's another die that fits.  So once I determined my background paper, I decided to use Misty Moonlight for my ornament.

The inside (cut with More Dazzle DSP) is so sparkly!

And since I didn't want to take away from the pretty ornament I left the rest of the card quite plain.

This is a gate-fold card.  To make it, I cut the card base 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored it at 2-1/8" from either end.  This lets the two sides fold in, with the opening in the middle.

I added two 2" x 5-1/4" strips of DSP to either side and then mounted my ornament on two pieces cut with the Deckled Rectangle dies.  Easy peasy!

Opened, my card has a pleasant holiday greeting from Joy to You, stamped in Misty Moonlight ink.

Anyone else going to join me in my blue Christmas?  ðŸ˜Š
