More Tropical Layers

The Artfully Layered stamp set is going to retire at the end of the January - June 2022 Mini Catalog period, effective June 30.  This is such a great set (and great bundle, when you add the coordinating dies) and I'd hate for you to miss out.

So today I'm sharing yet another card made with the set and the dies, but I've used the all new 2022-24 In Colors!

How is that for bright and cheery?

I started by cutting out 6 of the large leaf die cuts, three in white and one each in Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet and Tahitian Tide.  I mixed and matched the pieces and filled in the spaces of the white ones with the colored insert pieces, and used a little adhesive tape on the back to hold the pieces in place.

I also used the dies to cut the Starry Sky strip along the top and bottom of the card, and to cut out the little heart-shaped leaves, using Orchid Oasis cardstock.  So I got all of the new In Colors on one card!

And see the background?  The Thick Basic White card base was embossed with one of the Checks & Dots embossing folders (which will be retiring on Monday!).

The In Colors will be available on Tuesday, May 3rd, and the Artfully Layered Bundle will still be around through the end of June.  But I'd hate for you to miss out on this wonderful set!

Old and New

I love mixing stamp sets and dies, and in this case, older stamps with newer products:

The "old" is the Artfully Layered stamp set, used for the background, the leaves, and the greeting, and the Tropical Layers dies.   These items will be retiring at the end of the January - June 2022 Mini Catalog, on June 30.

The "new" is the fabulous colors and that wonderful frame.

First, the stamps:

I started with a 3-1/2"x 4-3/4" piece of Basic White, on which I stamped the background text using Orchid Oasis ink (stamped off one time).  The leaves were stamped with Parakeet Party ink, and the large palm leaf was stamped with Starry Sky, then colored with the Light Starry Sky Stampin' Blend.  The same color was used to stamp the greeting.

Can you see the little diamonds cut into the paper?  That great texture comes from one of the dies in the set.  I randomly cut the pattern in a few spots on the layer.

And look at that great frame!  The new Fabulous Frames contains one large die that cuts and embosses this frame, all at the same time.  I used Tahitian Tide cardstock for the frame, which was popped up on Adhesive Strips.

The greeting was cut with another new set of dies - Stylish Shapes.  I love the stitched look!

Once the card was complete, I added a few of the In Color Matte Decorative Dots, one each in Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party and Starry Sky.

Are you looking forward to the new In Colors?  I think they are a great group of colors, and they make me very happy!  I hope they'll do the same for you!

Sending Hugs

One of the card packs for my Cards-by-Mail offering this month included the pieces for this card:

Using the wonderful products from the Artfully Composed suite, this card came together in minutes.  I love the large tropical leaves, and that designer paper!  Wow!

The large leaves are all from the coordinating dies, Tropical Layers.  Don't miss that cute stitched zigzag border--one of the dies!

The patterned paper has the zigzag border and a strip of the Layering Designs Vellum attached, before adhering to the Basic Black card base.

And then the leaves - a black fern, the Mossy Meadow leaves and the Calypso Coral palm leaf, all cut with the dies.

This card just makes me feel good - sending all the hugs!

A Tropical Slim-Line Card

Slim-Line card - that's something I have not written about yet, even though they are all the rage.  So today I'm jumping on that bandwagon with a slim-line card I made for my sister.

First of all, confession time - I bought this gorgeous Artfully Composed patterned paper along with the fabulous Tropical Layers dies...and totally neglected to order the coordinating Artfully Layered stamps.  Duh!  They even come as part of a bundle (saving me 10%), and somehow I missed it!  Head slap!

So this card used some new and some retired products - I now have the stamps, so I will create again and use the RIGHT stamps!

But in the meantime:

Slim-line cards are longer and narrower cards.  I started with a piece of 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock (Thick Basic White) and cut it to 7" x 8-1/2".  Then it was scored at 3-1/2", so the finished card is 3-1/2" x 8-1/2".  That gave me lots of room to add the pretty paper.

I love the leaf dies!  The black open-leaf design and the large palm leaf (cut here in Just Jade) remind me of the tropics.

I used my retired Timeless Tropical stamps and matching dies for the palm trees and pineapples, along with the cute "aloha" greeting.  There are larger palm trees in another set of dies (Palms dies) which I also have, but they didn't really fit on this long, narrow card.  So retired it is!

One of the really cool things about the Artfully Composed paper is that many of the patterns match the dies, and can be cut directly from the paper without stamping.  I'm going to give that a try next!

Check out the Artfully Composed bundle (and don't forget the stamps! 😉).   I know you'll love it as much as I do!
