Poppin' By Birthday

I had such a fun time stamping this birthday card:

I love the Poppin' By bundle (stamps and dies) that create little popcorn-themed images. And I thought my grandson, Declan, who turns 9 tomorrow, would love it too.

The stamps are on the small side; in order to create a full-size card, I wanted to add a "loud" background. I reached for the Stripes and Dots stamp set - it looks like one large, background stamp but you can separate it into four long stamps so you can add individual striped or dotted backgrounds if you don't want to use them together. And I did just that--pulled them apart and used the wide stripe at the top and bottom (in Real Red) and the narrow, parallel lines in Tuxedo Black.

Now that greeting took a little extra effort. It's one image and the words are close together. But I really wanted to use the "filmstrip" die to highlight the words, so I inked each word individually with a Black Stampin' Write marker, stamped it on a strip of Basic White cardstock and cut the word. Then I cleaned the stamp and inked up the next word, repeating the process until I had the greeting completed.

The popcorn bucket and little popped "corns" were stamped and cut with the dies, and once placed on the card front I stamped "pop" in some of the blank areas. (Wouldn't this card make a cute Father's Day card?)
