Happy Anniversary

44 years ago today I married my husband, Jim.  Hard to believe that we are no longer spring chickens, but he still makes me laugh after all these years.  And I can't imagine anyone I would rather be "isolated" with.

So I had to make him a special anniversary card:

I love how this came out!

Without the ability to go out right now to print photos, I turned to some scrapbooking that I haven't yet completed (from 2 years ago!!!  Can anyone relate?)  I found this selfie, in front of Devils Tower, and decided it would be perfect for my card.

I started by adhering it to a piece of Very Vanilla Thick cardstock.  Then I cut it with the puzzle die from Puzzle Pieces.  This actually turns your photo or stamped image into a puzzle, but I was careful to keep it all together except for one corner piece in the upper left.

I mounted my puzzle to a piece of Shaded Spruce after creating the score lines around the photo.  This was adhered to a skinny layer of Night of Navy, and finally to a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Mint Macaron.

I wanted to keep this simple, so I wound some Linen Thread around the cardstock 4 times, and taped it on the back; this piece was then adhered to my Mint Macaron card base.

I finished by popping up the last puzzle piece, and stamping the greeting on Whisper White, then cutting it with the puzzle piece die.

And inside:

Happy Anniversary to my hubby...I hope we'll be around for many more!

A Guitarist's Birthday

My brother-in-law is a professional classical guitarist, so imagine my delight at having the Music From the Heart stamp set with which to create his birthday card:

There's so much to love about this card!  Let's start with the guitar.  The stamp set has two pieces, that when stamped together, make the guitar with a little heart in the middle.  So cute!  Stamped on Thick Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black ink, I then fussy cut it with my Paper Snips.

Then there's that greeting from Label Me Bold.  Perfect, stamped in Pretty Peacock and snipped out.  And that musical background?  That's Sheet Music, stamped with Bermuda Bay ink on Vellum, and immediately sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.  LOVE!

I layered the Sheet Music Vellum inside a Basic Black frame (cut with two sizes of the Stitched Rectangle dies) and mounted it over some of the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper (FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-Bration--which ends in a few more days!).

The card base is Pretty Peacock with a layer of Bermuda Bay...a nice masculine combo along with black.

Have a music lover in your life?  Music from the Heart is a must-have for your collection!  Check it out.

Birthday Bonanza

I'm sending a gift card to my granddaughter for her birthday.  I'd love to go shopping for her, but circumstances as they are, that was not possible.  So I made her a cute card that also holds a gift card:

This simple gift card holder starts with a piece of 4-1/4" x 11" cardstock (I used Bermuda Bay).  It's scored, as a usual card, at 5-1/2", but then it is scored again at 3".

That second score line is what creates the pocket for the gift card.  Neat, huh?

Prior to adhering the pocket you'll want to punch a little "thumb" hold, using a small circle punch.  Then just decorate as desired.  I love the Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper, and used that, along with the Bonanza Buddies stamps.

My little toucan was stamped with Tuxedo Black ink, colored with Stampin' Blends, and cut out with the coordinating Bonanza dies.  There's even a die for the balloons!

I know my granddaughter wants a bathing suit for her birthday, so I hope our quarantines will soon end so she can go shopping!

Happy Birthday, Vickie!
