Fresh Gingerbread

If you've visited my blog the past few days, you will know that I've been participating in a Christmas-themed blog hop.  Over the next three days I'll go into greater detail on how to re-create my projects.  Today - Gingerbread Kids:

 

The card itself is easy to make:

• The card base is Emerald Envy, 4-1/4" x 11", and scored at 5-1/2" to fold in half
• A layer of Presents and Pinecones Designer Series Paper, cut 4-1/2" x 5-1/2", has teeny strips of Silver Foil Sheets on either end (cut 1/2" x 5-1/2").  Adhere this layer to the card base
• Stamp the gingerbread person from Cookie Cutter Christmas two times, using Crumb Cake ink on Whisper White card stock
• Punch, using the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch
• Stamp the bow, once in Cherry Cobbler and again with Emerald Envy; punch with Cookie Cutter punch
• Adhere bows to kids; add Enamel shapes for buttons and color Pearls Basic Jewels with black Sharpie marker for eyes
• Cut a 3" x 2-3/4" piece of Silver Foil Sheets and score on all sides at 1/8"
• Cut the tiny corners out so you can fold on the score lines, making the border of the cookie sheet 
• Adhere the "kids" using Stampin' Dimensionals
• Adhere cookie sheet to card

Now the unique part of this card is the sentiment.

 I stamped it twice, using Oh What Fun; once in Emerald Envy and again with Cherry Cobbler.  I snipped out the Cherry banner and layered it over the green one, creating a two-toned sentiment.

Next I cut it out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies--this is the square shape.  But...actually it isn't...I cut it twice and created a rectangle.  Here's how I did it:

Using a different sentiment from Tin of Tags, which I've stamped in Cucumber Crush, I laid my framelit so that the bottom edge is at the bottom of the tag.  Run it through the Big Shot:

Now place your framelit back over the tag with the top edge where you want it to be:

The critical part of this is to match up the stitching on your tag with the framelit.  It's really not very difficult--slide it gently over the tag and you'll feel the framelit fall into the stitching holes:

(Excuse the spotted card stock--obviously I was using a scrap, and the back was dirty!)

Run it through the Big Shot again and voila!

A custom-sized rectangle, with perfect stitches all around!

The Stitched Shapes Framelits stack nicely with the Layering Squares, Layering Circles and Layering Ovals Framelits from the Annual Catalog.  And you can create rectangles and scalloped rectangles using this same technique.
