Mermaid Birthday

My niece always wanted to be a mermaid.  She was a fantastical little child with big blue eyes and long blond hair.  And she loved mermaids.  Now 26 and a new mom, I thought it would be fun to celebrate her birthday with a throw-back to her early days:

How fun is this card?

I love 💗 this Magical Day stamp set!  Aren't these little mermaids adorable?  Let's take a closer look:

Each mermaid was stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin' Blends (another 💗).  I then cut them out with the coordinating Magical Mates Framelits Dies.  Then, using a 1/8" Circle punch, I cut lots of little circles from the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper and created "scales" on the mermaids.

The Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper was the base for my mermaids' ocean.  I cut it using the largest Layering Square Framelit and then cut another using the largest scalloped square framelit and some of the Turquoise Glimmer Paper.  I also used the "waves" in the framelits to make a little ocean, which was adhered to the bottom of the "water".  Finally "sea grass" was added.

Look at the sweet little seahorse!  Although hard to see, he is "breathing" bubbles; I placed a few Glitter and Clear Epoxy Shapes coming from his mouth.

The card base is Thick Whisper White.  I took a slightly smaller piece and stamped the sentiment in Basic Black, then ran the piece through the Big Shot with the Seaside embossing folder.  Then I re-stamped the "Magical" using Bermuda Bay ink and cut it out with the framelit, finishing it with some Wink of Stella.

Magical?  YES!  And I'm sure my niece will love it!

The Myths & Magic Suite is now available in the Occasions Catalog; click on the photos below to go to my online store.
