Celebrating my Colleagues

Each year my employer, Sutter Medical Foundation, celebrates the "longevity" of our employees.  This year I have five supervisors who have reached some pretty awesome milestones.   I chose to honor them all by making them a special card.

These are desk calendars, each decorated using the Painted with Love Designer Series Paper (💗) and the FREE Sale-a-Bration Celebrate You Thinlits Dies.  I had a great time putting together the colors!  Let's take a closer look:

I started with a 6" x 12" piece of Rich Razzleberry paper, scored in half to create the card.  Then the fun began...

I took a layer of Gold Foil Sheets and cut it to 5-3/4" x 5-3/4", then layered on a piece of coordinating cardstock (here Peekaboo Peach) and then the layer of the Painted with Love paper.  This made a very sturdy card that would stand up to a year's worth of flipping calendar pages.

Using the thinlits dies, I cut two layers of "celebrate" and "you", and a Gold Foil "amazing".  As  you'll see below I tried to pick up colors from the DSP for each card.  And backing all the words with Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets prior to cutting them out made it really easy to adhere them, especially the skinny "amazing".

I also needed a way to keep the card from collapsing on their desk:

I took a piece of coordinating cardstock that is 5" x 1-1/2".  I scored in the middle (2-1/2") and then 1" from each end.  This is folded with a "mountain" fold and two "valley folds".  But because I had a sentiment and my note of congratulations on the inside, I wanted to ensure they could open the card, so I adhered one side with Tear & Tape adhesive and the other side with a Velcro dot...mind if I say, "Genius!"?  (Blush)

I also added their years of service (Lydia has worked for Sutter for 20 years!) using the retired Little Numbers dies.  And I cut a back for the calendar with a non-Stampin' UP! scalloped rectangle die.

Here is each one:
Same colors, different background paper for Niki's 15 year card.

Bea has been with Sutter for 18 years!  Melon Mambo for Bea:

And Sarah for 14...

...and finally Angelina's card for 13 years.

I've worked with these wonderful women for many years, and am retiring after 19 years with Sutter.  I'll miss them...but I bet they'll remember me for at least a year!  😊

    1. Thanks, Bonnie; they actually look much better in person--had trouble capturing the light.
