It's time for another Blog Hop by the Wacky Watercooler Gang. This month we are celebrating spring and trying to forget the cold and snow! You may have arrived from the blog of the very talented Marsha Reed, or you may have just "hopped on" here. Our Hop is like a circle; click on the links below to visit the next or previous blogs and if you continue around, you'll eventually end up where you started.
For my first project I pulled out an oldy but goody template: the flowerpot card! What else says spring like a pot of flowers? My old template was much smaller, so I resized it and came up with this:
Do you recognize that polka dot paper for the flower pot? No? Look closely--it's the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper, a FREE Sale-a-Bration offering with a $50 purchase. I used a brayer to add Cajun Craze ink, then swiped it with a paper towel, leaving an adorable polka dot pattern. This piece was cut 4" x 10", and scored at 2" and 6". I kept the extra 2"; this was adhered over the lip so there is still a polka dot pattern. The edge was punched with the Scallop Edge Punch, and it was tied with a length of 5/8" Organza Ribbon.
I cut "happy" two times using the Hello You Thinlits and Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie cardstock:
The "spring" sentiment is from Crazy about You.
Those flowers and leaves are all from the Flower Patch set. This great set has matching framelits--easy to cut out all the pieces!
I went a little overboard and stamped my large Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight flowers several times, cutting each layer by hand and putting them together with Dimensionals to add a little pop!
The Papillon Potpourri butterfly was colored with Blendabilities and punched with the Butterfly punch. This was added using Dimensionals stacked on each other in order to give the appearance of alighting on the flowers.
A piece of 6" x 3" Pumpkin Pie card stock with a layer of 5-3/4" x 2-3/4" Whisper White is the base for the flowers. This is inserted into the flower pot and the flowers are carefully adhered using SNAIL adhesive and Dimensionals so they overlap the lip of the flowerpot.
Are you feeling a little warmer yet?
Our Blog Hops often contain a CASE of another Watercooler artist. This month I was given the fabulous Christine Guida to copy. I had such a good time going through her samples, and had a hard time coming up with a favorite, so I chose three!
I
I love how Christine cut out and layered her flowers, and the vintage look and coloring on the third card was so appealing! So this is my CASE:The flowers from Butterfly Basics were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, then colored with Rich Razzleberry and Wild Wasabi Blendabilities. I used Oval Framelits to cut the hole in Mossy Meadow cardstock, then carefully adhered a piece of Typeset DSP with the larger oval over the top. This layer was placed over the image with Dimensionals.
I stamped and colored the flowers again, and fussy-cut them.
These are adhered with Dimensionals, overlapping the oval frame.
I tried to reflect what I loved about Christine's cards--did I do it?
I wanted a third project and was in the middle of decorating one of the Large Kraft Journals when I took a tumble at work and broke my hand. So two cards will have to suffice until I can do more stamping, hopefully soon. It's hard to stamp (and to type!) with your left hand when you are right-handed!
I hope you enjoyed my cards; now hop on over to see what Gail Allen has for you--she always makes me smile!
Priscilla, that flower pot card is just so colorful and spring like. wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteI love the CASE card, I might CASE your CASE.
ReplyDeleteYour flower pot card is fabulous! Your CASE if lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, your flower-pot card - I had forgotten about these! The Irresistibly Yours dsp is perfect for the pot -and the Flower Patch set is great! I love your choice of bright colours. Your 'case' of Christine's cards is beautiful, Priscilla. I'm so sorry to hear about you breaking your hand - ouch!! That must hurt! :( Take care, and I hope it mends quickly!
ReplyDeletePriscilla, too bad about your tumble and broken hand. I feel for you, and can't imagine how hard that must be for you. The project and the CASE that you posted for this hop are absolutely stunning. I was amazed at the beautiful detail and layering of your Flower Pot card and then saw your CASE card and my jaw dropped. Can I say awesome! TFS.
ReplyDeleteYour projects are bright and springy! Please accept my sincere get well wishes. Hoping your hand mends quickly.

ReplyDeleteTwo stunning cards more than suffice Miss Priscilla. Wonderful of you to provide all the details too. Very helpful for those of us who now want to case YOU! I never would have guessed that was the SAB paper. I was thinking Patterned Paper Stack for sure. You laid down such an even layer of color. Simply amazing. Wonderful use of the Flower Patch set too. Sigh...this blog hop is filled with way too many enablers. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the inspiration and I hope all that pent up creative energy speeds your healing. We need you for another hop soon!
Hugs and love - J.
Oh, Priscilla! How awful that you've broken your hand! I can't imagine how hard it must be for you. Having to use one's left hand constantly when one is right-handed is a real burden when one loves crafting. I hope you have super healing powers and can join us for the next hop.
ReplyDeleteYour problem finding just one card from Christine's wealth of projects is understandable and I love how you've CASEd the "best" elements of those three cards and made your own. What a great idea! Your flower pot card---a real WOW. Love it to pieces! That Irresistibly Yours DSP is the best, isn't it? I haven't tried the brayer on it yet but love the way sponging and spritzing have worked. I love the happy colours of your blooms and those nice layers (there should be a Fussy-Cutters Anonymous for people like us!) I'm so happy you've included measurements. They'll help when I go to CASE your card. Thanks so much for being part of this Blog Hop.
Thanks, everyone, for the kind comments and good wishes. I'm doing well and will not be slowed down (well, except my typing!). I'm using this as an excuse to get my husband stamping. I have a Card Club coming up and he's going to stamp my samples--should give my ladies a good laugh! Enjoyed the hop! Great job, everyone!
ReplyDeletePriscilla, you did it. What a gorgeous CASE of my card.
ReplyDeleteThat little flower pot card is so cute. I did one once, but now with Spring hopefully here soon, I will have to do another. We have so many new flower images and dies to work with since I did my last one.
Again, I love your CASE of my card.
I really did not think one would be able to improve on Christine's cards, but I think you nailed it. Your CASE is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHeal quickly, the stamping world needs to see more of your work.
Gorgeous "CASE", Priscilla! And I love the flower pot card. It's so happy! Hope you are better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I was happily reading along your post, and came to the broken hand part and had to stop and re-read it. Did I really read that correctly? So sorry to hear about your new challenge. But, I love the part about having your awesome husband help with stamping! Hoping you heal quickly and are as good as new when your recuperation is complete.
ReplyDeleteAnd you should see my face! Tripped on a sidewalk and hit the curb. Another black eye AND a black forehead AND a black cheek! LOL But yes, my awesome husband is not tired of taking care of me yet, and will help with my cards. Think I'll keep him!
DeleteOh, yes, and about the cards. :) Like the flowerpot card, but love the CASE card!
ReplyDeleteLove your flower pot, and your CASE is stunning too! Great work!
ReplyDeleteYour flower pot card is so amazing. Don't think I could ever do that. You are very creative. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOh, Bev, of course you can make this - it's quite easy. I'll feature it on my blog with full directions next week.
DeleteCan't wait! Thanks Priscilla.
DeleteHi Priscilla. I'm sorry to hear you had a fall and broke your hand. I hope it heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteI loved your flower pot full of bright flowers. Your CASE is beaufitul.
