Cock-a-Doodle Birthday!

Have you seen this new Sale-a-Bration set, Home to Roost? Not initially my cup of tea, it quickly grew on me when I saw the beautiful coloring of this little rooster. So I had to order it when I had appropriate sales (Sale-a-Bration is the time year to earn FREE products with every $50 purchase!).

Take a look:

I saw a card by (I think) Kim Ransom and decided I could make it my own. A Crumb Cake base with a layer of Cajun Craze started me off. I embossed the Pear Pizzazz layer with the Hexagon embossing folder, and added a little left over (retired) Chicken Wire.

But the star of this show is that handsome rooster:

Stamped on Whisper White with Tuxedo Black, I masked him and stamped the reeds (or is that hay?). Then I went to work with my Stampin' Blends to make him come alive.

The sentiment is split; it actually says "Enjoy the simple moments"; I added the rest of it to the inside of the card.

Before adding my layers I tied a knot with some of the Braided Linen Thread, carried over from the Holiday Catalog - YEA! - to add a little more texture.

Butterfly Gala

Need a quick card? I've got just the sample for you; take a look:

This starts with a Whisper White Notecard (& Envelopes) which makes card-making a cinch. I cut a piece of the new Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper to 3" x 4" and added it to the front. A piece of Whisper White Flax Ribbon was adhered using a little strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive, and then the magic begins.

Look at that beautiful butterfly! It's from Butterfly Gala, and was stamped with Tuxedo Black ink. Then I used Sponge Daubers and inks to add some color - Gorgeous Grape, Grapefruit Grove and Lemon Lime Twist. Some Wink of Stella makes it shimmer.

The Butterfly was punched with the coordinating Butterfly Duet Punch (get it as a bundle and save 10%), and I added some Pearl Basic Jewels for the body.

Whisper White was cut with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits, on which I stamped the sentiment in Grapefruit Grove ink, and it's popped up on Dimensionals.

Done! So easy and quick, but such a stunner!

Beautiful Romance

While playing with the new Rectangle Stitched Framelit dies, I cut some papers and couldn't resist putting them together. Take a look:

I had a piece of Pear Pizzazz lying on my desk, so I thought the leaf pattern from the Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper would make a pretty layer. But I wanted a plain center for my focal image, so I cut the DSP with another one of the Rectangles. This created a "frame" of leaves, but when I cut one more piece of Whisper White, I found I could just nestle it into the frame for a lovely card front.

Using the Wonderful Romance main image, I stamped it with Versamark and embossed it in Gold Embossing Powder. Then I colored it with Light and Dark Mossy Meadow and Light Petal Pink Blends. So pretty! And it was a piece of cake to cut it out with the Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies. A few Share What You Love Artisan Pearls made the flower centers pop.

I layered the embossed image on my card with Dimensionals, and embossed a sentiment from the same set with the Gold. Then I merely finished it all off with the Whisper White Flax Ribbon--I pulled two of the strands of thread out and created a little bow, which is adhered with a Glue Dot.
